The long-debated mega-hospital project on the site of the Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus is making good progress. The new construction has a surface area of 174,983 m2 and a total cost of $2.24 billion. All work on the project is expected be completed by 2029.
Eventually, the new hospital complex will unite the Hotel-Dieu de Québec and the Enfant-Jésus Hospital in a single location. It will become a reference centre in Québec for all kinds of specialties, including nephrology (kidney disease), neurology (diseases of the nervous system), oncology (cancer), traumatology (physical injuries and serious accidents) and severe burns.
